On Tuesday, May 17th 2022, Rigas Hotel Skopelos had the pleasure to host
in its premises the Seminar about the Rescue of the Seal Monachus Monachus.

It was an informative seminar, in the context of the program “Conservation of the Mediterranean Seal in the wider area of the National Marine Park of Alonissos of the Northern Sporades”. The seminar was coordinated by MOm (Society for the Study and Protection of the Mediterranean Seal) in cooperation with the 1st Sea Scout System of Skopelos along with Scout members of the Wildlife Rescue Team.
During the seminar, very important information was communicated regarding the ways and means of rescuing and caring the Mediterranean Seal, particularly the newborn ones, until they are transferred to the appropriate MOm facilities for further care.
At the end of this useful Seminar, the chief of the System Mr. Th. Fadakis as well as the members of the scout team received a rescue kit for sampling, caring and research for the seal Monachus Monachus.
It is our duty to protect these beautiful creatures. A simple way is to respect the environment and to provide immediate care, as long as we have the basic knowledge, once we meet a seal in need of help.
